It's known he consistently asked for Solo to be killed off.

Han Solo is actually a scoundrel, and Harrison Ford never plays a scoundrel. He always plays the good guy.

He wanted the scoundrel to die.

My thoughts anyway.

I've wondered since Force Awakens came out if it was his idea to have Solo still be a scumbag.
