i have to agree with him about the lack of real men in hollywood we got a bunch of pussies and beta males in hollywood now another reason things are this way i feel is because of writers not so much actors .

Humankind cannot bear very much reality

There are actually plenty of well-trained younger American actors with degrees in theater, film and other relevant trade fields. Thing is -- I've read Aussie/Brit actors are cheaper -- but like Mr. Douglas -- the mainly Jewish moguls/producers/etc who make casting decisions are just "circling the wagons" and emphasizing their Anglophilia that's been the plague of Hollywood for the last 30 years:

While there are plenty of idiot American actors/stars my age obsessed with "social media" and other such schlock -- many are like me -- and prefer stage craft and the like for what it is....

Its just rich producers in LA think that white Americans are unsophisticated while UK working class idiots are the cream of the crop in pretentiousness to them.

That being said I'm a huge fan of UK tough guys like Michael Caine and Jason Statham -- but not so much other aspects of UK culture -- and I'm half British myself but I prefer to see American actors getting work....

Mr. Douglas forgets his daddy used his patronage to get him a career. Its kinda sad really because Douglas was actually a semi-likable guy in the 80s but became a smarmy old f-ck in his older years....

I partly agree with Douglas's assessment of younger Hollywood actors- social media is a tool these days. If it's used the right way, of course. The parts younger actors are given generally fit his argument.

The bigger issue which was touched on, and is one that should be troubling, is the fact that distinctly American roles go to non-American actors and actresses, regardless of age. The recent movie Selma, about MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR had British actors in the roles of King, his wife Coretta Scott, Lyndon Johnson, and George Wallace.

Except for those American-born actors who start out at a young age, there's little hope of changing the current situation. The priority for most Americans seems to be focused on athletics- children growing up to be sports stars in college and/or professionally.

It don't matter who you hear it from. It's the same story.

I agree.

There has been talk in Hollywood for years about remaking Romancing the Stone. When I tried to think of an American actor that could play Jack T. Colton, I couldn't think of one.

Internet courage is such a yawn.

What I find interesting is that the argument I've heard for the last 7 to 8 years is that UK and Aussie actors are cheaper....

I find that hard to believe considering how many university trained actors there are with professional drama degrees(similar to what Kevin Spacey and Phillip Seymour Hoffman had) who can't find work anywhere and who are waiting tables in LA waiting for "their space."

I think its the Jewish movie producers, they just have an Anglophile fetish, for whatever weird reason.
