Johnny Derp jokes about assasinating Prez Trump

"Can you bring Trump here?" he asked the audience, as he introduced a screening of his film The Libertine.

After receiving jeers from the crowd, he added: "You misunderstand completely. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?"

"I want to clarify," he added, "I'm not an actor. I lie for a living [but] it's been a while. Maybe it's about time."

The star acknowledged that his comments - which may have been a reference to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by actor John Wilkes Booth in 1865 - would prove controversial.

"By the way, this is going to be in the press and it'll be horrible," he said. "It's just a question, I'm not insinuating anything."

But on social media, some have criticised Depp's comments - which come days after a gunman shot and injured Republican congressman and four others in Virginia in the US.

Depp just had to join Hollywood hysteria about Trump, didn't he? I thought he was smarter than that.

Thats like saying people at a movie theatre just had join the hysteria when a guy with a flame thrower walks in and starts burning every thing.

That's not the same, people at the movie theater won't suffer any consequences for their actions, but Depp might see the sales drop for his movies. What he said isn't a small thing, it's a pretty serious stuff. I'm surprised that he doesn't realize this.

BTW, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, Hillary was the one with the flame thrower.

When will you people realise that crooked hillary isnt any different to trump? In case youve not been paying attention, or just living in the echo chamber of fox news, trump has already pissed off the rest of the world. Its got the stage where the rest of the world is considering action against the US over its withdrawal from the paris agreement. Theres serious talk of putting carbon tariffs on all US exports. When will you wake up to the fact trump isnt going to make america great again. Hes trying to turn it into another north korea. I dont blame you for not wanting clinton, she was crooked as fuck. But that doesnt mean you bury your head in the sand with trump. Hes just as bad. He doesnt care about the US, he cares about trump. Thats it.

You could also ask: "when will Hollywood actors realize that Hillary isn't any different to Trump?" That also hasn't happened yet, has it? If actors are so stupid not to realize this, maybe they should restrain from commenting about politics.

Anyway, you turned this into a political debate. I simply made an observation that after several incidents with actors hinting to kill Trump which all had consequences (Griffin being sacked after posing with Trump's severed head, producers of the play Julius Caesar that pretended to stab Trump losing several sponsors), Johnny Depp had to venture into the same territory. It's like he doesn't care what happens to him next.

Why would I ask that? I dont care about what hollywood actors think. I dont know why you do. I can list the reasons why hillary was a poor choice and that list would be as long as any list about trump. Why you think using clinton as shield against things trump does is a godd idea I dont know. It seems to be the only comeback his supports, and in fact he himself has. #whataboutcrookedhillary seems to be his go to move.

As for the other stuff, you do realise that there has been a play about Caesar thats included almost every president right? They did obama as well yet no one batted an eye because it was a tradition that even included Reagan. Remember him? The guy who actually had an assassination attempt on him. No one cared, yet trump the thin skinned mouth piece and his snowflake supporters wont shut up about it. As for griffith, when was she ever funny?

I haven't given trump a second thought since chris Cornell died. And it's kind of hard for me to respect people who do. The amount of good Johnny depp can do for people is completely unrelated to who is in the White House.

No one I know talks about him. Except the very dumbest people. Sports. video games. Books. Music. World events. All discussed with my friends and families. But never trump. He doesn't really do much or factor in any way to anything of substance from what I can see. I tried watching one of those Trevor Noah or Jon Oliver shows, and it was insulting to see them make jokes about some fake "Russian threat to American democracy" while there are little kids actually being killed with bombs. Either talk about the real problems or talk about literature, art, and sport. But to talk about trump? I find it very low

Interesting comment. And completely off base. Trump is slightly more ignorant than obama. But only slightly. As such neither is worth thinking about. If the world had done the correct thing to radical Islam, 5 years ago, there probably wouldn't be a trump and there definately wouldn't be thousands of dead children and more refugees. Interesting you think obama handled that situation correctly. And call me ignorant. Lol. Pretty sad
