His Underrated Films

Plenty of threads about his best films but he's done quite a few that are quite underrated that were released in his purple patch that deserve a lot more praise.

Awakenings (one of his greatest performances, Robin Williams is also great in this)

Ronin (After Heat, one of his best action/Thriller films)

Midnight Run (I don't know if this is underrated now, but De Niro is great in this)

1900 (a long film, doesn't get held in the same esteem of his great work. Not his greatest performance but this is one of his better films)

Angel Heart (one of his more sinister performances, great film)

Hi Mom (one of his better pre fame films, De Palma directed and De Niro is great in this)

Bang The Drum Slowly (another pre fame film, underrated sports film0

New York, New York (His most underrated Scorsese film)

Mad Dog and Glory (A gem of De Niro film, Bill Murray steals the film though)

True Confessions (a underrated film during De Niro's golden period, with him and Duvall acting up a storm)

Guilty by Suspicion

Stanley and Iris (a rare romantic role from De Niro, has good chemistry with Jane Fonda)

Stardust also deserves to be on that list.

Mad Dog and Glory was always one of my favourites - I just like the story.

"Men of Honor", for sure. Both he and Cuba Gooding Jr. are great in the film.

Midnight Run is a Great Movie that is largely forgotten. Great Fun

Love that movie.

I loved Guilty by Suspicion.

The Last Tycoon was very underrated, maybe because the ending was left open. Probably because F. Scott Fitzgerald (he wrote the book) died before the script was finished.
