Have you lost respect for De Niro?

I don't live in the US. But I know Trump is the new President & saw De Niro mocking the New President.

Have you lost respect for him? Or do you support him?

Robert De Niro says "F*ck Em. F*ck em" live on CNN

The actor delivered his unbleeped F-bombs when asked on Reliable Sources about conservative criticism over him speaking out against Trump. Host Brian Stelter reminded De Niro: "This is cable, so it's not an FCC violation, but it is still a Sunday morning." ALSO: W. Kamau Bell tweeted in response: "WHOAH! So does that mean I can say that on CNN too?" https://twitter.com/wkamaubell/status/1178336290598576128

I saw this interview live today, without the bleeps. Stelter was clearly rattled, embarrassed and hurried to a commercial break as soon as possible.

As far as the interview, he had absolutely nothing substantive to say concerning Trump. He was constantly rubbing his nose (weird, distracting body language), and just as constantly appeared to be struggling, groping for words, unable to articulate his opinions. Eventually he uttered blanket criticisms such as " he's crazy ( after saying " the world is crazy"), he needs to go" and "it's a terrible situation". Sheesh, any present day 5th grader could come up with that!

After the commercial break, Stelter opened by plugging his latest movie, The Irishman, at which point he became more vocal and involved, not to mention smug and self-satisfied because he was getting his ego stroked big time. Finally, near the end of the interview, he gave Stelter a Travis Bickel-like smile and said of Trump that he's "a wannabe gangster" and claimed he never kept his word about anything. It was nauseating. I thought I was turned off by him before, this cinched it for me. I can definitely wait to see the movie when it comes up for free at my local library. No way I'm going to spend any money to benefit that overglorified, mega-rich prick!

Yeah, I know. Like I said, I saw the entire interview live and every clip I've seen since is exactly that, a clip and seriously edited.

The f-bomb was only incidental, slightly surprising and amusing to me. But after some reflection and taken within the context of his constant sputtering, trying to express his opinions, it lends perfect credence to a definition of profanity I once encountered, namely, it's "the effort of a feeble mind attempting to express itself forcibly".

Good actor. Don't care about his politics.

reply

It has grown exponentially.

He's a good actor, and I have liked him as he got older. That doesn't mean that I listen to or agree with him on politics, however. He should stick to what he is good at.

My POV.

I did have some minor respect for his acting abilities, but frankly, I had no interest in knowing him as a person; and now I'm glad I didn't get to know what kind of real guy he was. He's as stupid and gullible as the rest of Hollywood when they hear gossip about Trump from the lying news.

reply

Yes.

reply

No I have not lost respect for De Niro, but I never respect nor trust Trump.
