Her time in Sweden

I was impressed to learn that Geena is fluent in Swedish. She was an exchange stundent here in the 70's, in my home town Sandviken. She even went to the same high school as me. Not at the same time, obviously, since I was born in 1984. But still, it makes me a little proud. ;)

I've been trying to find interviews where Geena talks about here time in Sweden. If you know of any, please let me know. Thanks!

Vad häftigt. :)

Men har hon inte pratat svenska sedan 70-talet så är hon troligtvis inte flytande i språket längre. Antagligen glömmer man en stor del av ett språk med 40 års inaktivitet.

Here's an interview with The Local from 2014 where she talks about it - apparently she really liked the experience, especially how friendly people were, how much she was treated as an adult, and how the environment was less competitive and judgmental than in the U.S. She even got engaged to a Swedish man, who's interviewed as well.

She also talked about it recently on the Late Late Show with James Corden (it was on June 6, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any clip available except for subscribers at the CBS website). I don't remember everything she said, but she mentioned how in the U.S. she felt so awkward about her height, but in Sweden where lots of people are tall, people assumed she must have been one of the most popular girls in school.

(I'm Swedish as well, but posting in English in case someone else is interested)
