Now that Joe Biden has been elected president, it's time for SNL to drop Jim Carrey as his impersonator

"The late-night institution, with its rich history of presidential impersonations dating all the way back to Dan Aykroyd’s hilarious portrayal of Richard Nixon, is struggling to meet the challenges of a post-Trump presidency," says Lorraine Ali. "The show that so brilliantly portrayed a philandering, fast food-loving Bill Clinton (courtesy of Phil Hartman) and an in-over-his-head George W. Bush (via Will Ferrell) is now struggling to find its comedic footing in time to greet the forthcoming administration, even with the usually formidable talent of Jim Carrey in its arsenal. Despite the aviator glasses, silver hair and 'here’s the deal' phraseology, the gregarious Carrey has had a hard time exploiting Biden’s demeanor on the national stage this year — deliberate, controlled and understated. The exaggerated expressions that made the actor perfect for The Mask or The Truman Show — better suited to the sly yet expansive Biden of the Obama administration — have made it difficult for him to embody the former vice president and six-term senator from Delaware. Saturday’s election-win sketch revealed Carrey has gotten better at mastering Biden’s cadence, open hand gestures and grin, but we’re still a long way from a decisive victory."

There really doesn't seem to be a whole lot to work with when it comes to Biden. People were upset that SNL lent credence to the notion of him having dementia through their impersonation, but I've wondered if they didn't really have much of a choice....there doesn't seem to be much to go on.

Trump, on the other hand, has plenty...and Baldwin seems to have screwed it up anyway by overplaying it. His impression is so over-the-top that the lack of nuance...its just not funny, IMO. I don't think I've even chuckled these last few years...it seems as silly as it is mean spirited.
There's a lot of material to skewer Trump with, the guy is a jackass, but a more reserved impression could have done a better job of it IMO.

This former A+ list mostly movie actor who was the highest paid actor in the world is leaving a trail of sexual harassment from the show he is leaving. But Biden wasn't elected president and the lamestream media doesn't have the power to coronate. In other words, it's still a contested election. The Dems clearly cheated but, like all criminals, they made mistakes and got caught. The weighty evidence shows that Biden "won" by 6 suitcases, a USPS trailer, pallets of fake ballots, a few hundred thousand Dominion switcheroos, dead voters, vote till you win voters and fresh Biden ballots run many times.

According to the current data (if you include the fraudulent numbers), Trump won 2,497 counties to 477 for Biden & virtually every bellwether county in USA, plus key battle states (e.g Ohio & Florida). As such, it's NOT possible he lost the election; he won in a massive landslide.

Conclusion: The election was stolen and cannot stand. Biden's not actually the President Elect and is, more accurately, the Prison Elect. We'll see who's sworn in in 2021 but, mark my words, it won't be Biden.

Carrey’s impression of Biden, while sometimes funny, was often criticized by viewers and was not sustainable for the show (or for Carrey). The caricature of Biden was simply too energetic. Carrey played Biden as a finger-gun slinging, secretly aggressive man who is constantly holding back his inner beast and occasionally unleashing rapid-fire tirades of insults. While calling Baldwin’s Trump a “cracked-out, turd-hurling, sack of rancid dog snot” in the first presidential debate sketch may have felt cathartic for Carrey (and many cheering audience members), it sounded like Carrey was voicing his own inner thoughts rather than channeling President-Elect Joe Biden.

Carrey is known for stealing the show with his well-known frenetic and hilarious energy. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for a long-term impression of Joe Biden in the same way as Baldwin’s impression of Trump, which has - more or less - managed to last four years without growing intolerably stale. While Moffat has temporarily stepped into the role (and could continue doing so), SNL has yet to reveal who will play President-Elect Joe Biden in the future, which many SNL viewers will likely anticipate throughout the coming weeks as Biden is set to begin his first term in office on January 20, 2021, three days before season 46 of SNL resumes on NBC.

Jim Carry should have dropped this very, very shitty show.

BS

What a stupid show!

I can't believe how far he's fallen.

From the biggest box office star to guest star on SNL.

And then be weeded out via a press release???

Embarrassing!

Carrey stepped down. Apparently doesn't want to do this for next four - possibly eight years
