What is the tragedy of Jim Carrey I keep seeing in the lame-o ads on this site?

I don't want to click on the actual links because they go off to troll sites that have you clicking forever to get to a non-story. In fact, MovieChat should stop allowing these kinds of sites to advertise here and waste everyone's time ... but every once in a while I do get curious about what the heck these stories are about. I just saw Jim Carrey on Colbert's show and he looked OK to me, and I keep seeing his funny art on the news that makes fun of Trump and his supporters in clever ways.

He's been an unstable mess since the 90s, if not earlier. I don't want to know the details.

It's the same tragedy that Adam Sandler suffered. After the new millennium dawned, they started making movies containing more and more sentimentality and consequently became less and less hilarious. But they did make more money because it appealed to a wider audience I guess. It's only a tragedy to me, because I loved their 90s movies.
