Normally when scandal hits famous friends stick up for their other famous friends.

He doesn't need his friends to speak up because he's done nothing wrong. This is just extortion and a violation of his privacy.
Who knows? Maybe he doesn't have any? You never know what these people think of each other behind the scenes. After all, to them, it's just a workplace and other actors are just coworkers. Do any of you love all of your coworkers? Nah....didn't think so.
I remember, back when he was a hitmaker, he would always "joke" at the Academy Awards ceremonies about how his movies were making so much more money than the nominees' films. Although they would laugh graciously, comments like that are a public "dig" at the recipients and I would not be surprised if many of them didn't really like him that much....especially if he had a way of bragging (in a non-joking way) off camera about his financial success. He honestly strikes me as the type to do this and, lets face it, nobody likes it when someone rubs their nose in something like this. It tends to make the recipients of such arrogance smirk later on when said person takes a fall.
