So sad that avatars will be his final movies.

After making 5 more avatars, he will be about 70 years old and we can not imagine him to make another movie after that.this is so sad.

I agree Avatar was good, it wasn't great and I really don't care to see anymore of it to tell the truth. It just felt to mashed together from a lot of other things and didn't really hide the fact

Sadly, y'all are correct.

Avatar is an enjoyable film... which absolutely does NOT require a sequel whatsoever.

Cameron is going to waste the remainder of his productive years making sequels that no one other than himself is truly interested in seeing.

He should be working on new, original stories (no Terminator or Alien sequels, either).

Battle Angel Alita - really really wish he had gone ahead with that one instead

He should've just moved on to Battle Angel after Avatar.

I didn't care all that much for Avatar and would be fine if Cameron just left that film alone and didn't return to it. Alright, one sequel is understandable, but four?! To devote an entire pentalogy to Avatar? That seems far too excessive for one film. Unless he has a life goal to turn a movie into franchise, this makes no sense from a creative standpoint. Cameron has an incredible gift for storytelling, but I would like to see him develop original creations for the rest of his career. His filmography is almost entirely sci-fi, with his masterpiece being his only historical drama: Titanic. Why not try other genres as well? I'd like to see how he would approach them more than Jake Sully continually defend the Na'vi from whatever villain Cameron cooks up next.

He has tried other genres. He makes outstanding documentary films. He has said he will continue to make documentaries.

I liked Avatar. I think the sequels will be very interesting. They won't be featuring the same characters or places, according to JC.

reply

I don't really consider documentaries, as they're decidedly more objective and don't require much creativity from the filmmaker when compared to fictional creations in his filmography. That's what I want to see more of, not nonfiction.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I want to see more of his documentaries. I like them better than his feature films. I'm glad he plans to do more of them.
