When did his slump really start?

Hi,

I wanted to know when his slump really started? And why did it happen?

reply

About 2000ish. He's been a joke for a long long long time. He hasn't been in any truly good movie since then, and he was only in a handful of good movies before then and many many mediocre/bad ones. His current "slump" has really been his whole career. It's just that he was in a handful of good/decent movies and is so odd people remember him. But he's far from any legend.

When the IRS filed a complaint against him in 2009 for unpaid back taxes. Now Cage will accept any offer, good or bad, that comes his way to pay off the debt, which has resulted in a ton of stinkers from him since.

Around 2008-2009. From there his debts/insane expenses made him take a lot of *beep* and even if I think his not exactly in the red financially anymore, he can't really get out of the b-tier persona he's gotten.

It seems like it might be looking up a bit though, with his performance in Joe being heralded as his best in years and being in Snowden next year.

His last good movie was Weatherman about 2006. Kick Ass was awesome but Cage isn't the star and doesn't make the movie what it is.

I kind of agree with you but I would give him a little more credit. While he has been in many average and a few really bad movies, the guy has really unique acting and has had some really good performances over his career and had been in way more than a handful of good movies.

But, yeah, his last good movie was Lord of War (2005) and that was over 10 years ago.

I will be gentle here. Around 2010.

Warning sign is alsways when an actor starts shooting too many low budget movies, meaning he either is desperate for money or nobody wants to hire him for big productions any more.
