Why do people consider him ugly?

This isn't about any charisma or "personality", this guy has objectively beautiful features. I don't get it.

He has a very nice facial shape- symmetrical with good cheekbones and fine proportions, big eyes but why is that negative?, very straight and nicely sized nose, full lips. Besides his teeth I would say his face is like a male version of Angelina Jolie's or Eva Green's face in terms of well sculpted face + striking features. He would make an attractive woman in fact.

Moving on, his body is thin and also well proportioned. It suits his face. Everything about him is very fine and shapely.

The only thing that contrasts his classical beauty are his teeth. However his teeth aren't disgusting or anything, just crooked. In a way that makes him even more interesting on top of just being beautiful and adds the implication of character, also stopping him from appearing overly feminine.

In some of his films it’s been stated his character is odd looking and I think HE even said it in a film.

Ugly? No. Funny looking? Yeah, maybe.

honestly the only thing that i think really cements him as unattractive are his teeth. if he fixed that he'd probably find more work as a leading man. but i still don't think he's that ugly, looks like a pretty usual person. it's just that hollywood is filled with modelesque and traditionally flawless people in every corner.

IMHO he's photogenic without being handsome. He actually has excellent bone structure, with a good jaw and cheekbones, but his eyes and mouth are a bit large for his face and aren't shaped the way Hollywood usually likes, plus he's been aging naturally.

The French have the term "jolie laid", which basically means "ugly hot". That is a person who doesn't fit the usual definition of good-looking, but who is attractive all the same.

I won't go as far as to call him ugly but he does really have the Barney Fife look down pat.
