Why doesn't he have children?

Haha, I realize no one here can probably answer this question, but I just think it's a pity! I watched the movie 'How to kill your neighbor's dog' a couple of days ago and he was so sweet with that little girl. Plus, to me he seems like someone who would want to have children and someone who would make a great dad!

Maybe he simply doesn't want to have children? You can like children and get on well with them but still not want to have any yourself.

reply

Yeah, I guess that must be the case. But it's a pity, like I said, I think he would make a great dad!

Maybe because he doesn't want to add to the burden of humanity on this planet, since it's already reached about 7 billion at this point, and resources will become limited and tight in the future?

Or maybe he just hates kids. They can be awfully annoying.

I wonder if Branagh is secretly childfree. That would be cool, as his fellow Harry Potter co-star Alan Rickman is CF too. He might be the type who does like kids but just doesn't want them. That's his personal choice. Not everyone wants kids.

I hope it is not by choice that he has no children. People who are intelligent and decent should have as many children as they can afford. The "overcrowding the planet" may be true, but my opinion is that people who have the ability to be good parents should have children, and people who do not, shouldn't. However, at this point in time it appears that is backwards. So we will end up with an overabundance of children whose parents either can't parent well, or don't have the wherewithal, be it money or intellect, to do it properly.

Intelligent, responsible people can become parents if they choose that for themselves. No one should be obligated to become parents for the sake of the planet or their parents or society or whatever. Parenthood is a serious business. The last thing we need is children being raised by people who resent them.
