Why is she not a 'bigger star'?

This is NOT in any way to diss her career path -- I realize Ms. Balk does lots of indie-type films. But does any-body have an idea/theory as to why her profile is not, uh, higher? I realize not every actress needs to be as big as Julia Roberts or Angelina, J, but Ms. FB is talented and deserves more roles.

And if the ever used the character of Harley Quinn in a future Batman movie, she'd be a good choice, I say.

Have you seen her/her personality and the roles she's done? (rhetorical)

It's easy to see why she was never a "star". Similar to why Juliette Lewis couldn't really become one, despite much better opportunities and greater recognition. Yep, The Craft definitely gives indication that she'd made a great Quinn; and I agree she deserves more, substantial roles.
Her Dorothy is a sentimental favorite (as is the film).

She did kind of get "popular" around the 90's...GOD I wish I was born 10 years earlier!

Fairuza is a hugely talented actress and has been in a lot of great, kinda high profile films.

I guess from a PR standpoint she's difficult to market and that's what it's all about.

She doesn't have that obvious sex-appeal (yet she's still gorgeous) and she's not exactly the "Americas sweetheart" type like Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock.

I'd love to see her in a high profile role soon! She has a good shot at an Oscar nomination.

because she is not good enough ... her acting seems limited to the same sort of roles...and I bet she isn't very good at accents

What makes me laugh is how she has posted on her face book, etc, a number of times about how she dislikes the mainstream Hollywood industry... you can bet it is because she isn't finding any roles in bigger movies and that is her way of letting her steam off about it.

She is not the main role kind of actress. No one wants to see her in anything thats the main role.... or even a big role. This is the reason why she is not in many films,,, or many big films so to speak. The audience likes their main actors (the person that is going to take them into this world and will be their eyes and ears into this world). I would say Neve Campbell is a more main role kind kind of actress..I haven't seen her in many things, but she does seem that type. Fairuza doesn't.... look who got the bigger roles and better work after the Craft... not Fairuza

She will just fade away into even more obscurity, carry on making her stupid candles and rely on her fans posts of "I loved you in the Craft, you were awesome" and "Fairuza, you are so beautiful" to keep her going

Oh yeah and her weird religions/wiccan rigmarol

Hollywood is truly a place of nutcakes

And what kind of roles are they? I am not trying to pick a fight I'm just wondering as someone who considers Fairuza someone who could play anything if she wanted to.

Her characters seem to have this consistency of being either crazy, goth or some moody bit ch

And you can bet half the time she is only playing herself in a bit more of an exaggerated way
