Talk about an unremarkable performance that required almost no nuance to play. Typical performance from Brad with his phony accent that he slips in and out of and a random shirtless scene. It's a shame they robbed Joe Pesci of the award especially when this was probably his last performance.
shareI saw OUATIH, and though I liked it, I'm shocked as hell that he won an Oscar for that performance. I mean, wow, what did he do, really? Just stand around squinting and looking pissed half the time. Oooooh!
shareI have to say I somewhat agree. Although Pitt was overdue an award, for sure. But Pesci was already a winner.
I don't remember who the other nominees were, or I'd say for sure, but I doubt I would have understood this award to Pitt as anything but, "Sorry you didn't get it for 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, or Snatch."
I would have gone with Pesci - and Pitt really should have been in lead - but it’s an engaging performance and a memorable character, so I was fine with him winning the Oscar.
