shareHahaha. Who am I going to troll on now??
But seriously this message board shut down is a worrying development. They want to move people to twitter and FB where they can use algorithms and data analysis tools since these sites are already set up for this. What they can do with the collected data is the disturbing part.
I won't use FB. It's way too personal! And 'Twitter' with the character count - no thanks.
I'll miss IMDB. I've had some entertaining spats. And as much as the trolls can be infuriating, some of them are bloody funny.
True, but so many of them are plain obnoxious and that's why they're shutting down the boards.
It's a shame they've ruined this for everyone. FB and Twitter aren't going to take the place of these boards. The trolls will flock to Reddit or some such. Guess some of us will have to go back to having real life conversations about movies and tv.
Maybe IMDB should have made an age requirement to use these boards then there wouldn't have been so many trolls. Lets face facts, at least 90% of the users on IMDb have been teenagers. More teenagers means more trolls.
shareYeah, both of the people who responded after me are correct. I don't like trolls, but occasionally I'll have a laugh despite myself. I'd agree that trolls and trouble moderating them have caused serious problems and, revenue issues notwithstanding, I'm sure they've played a big part in the closing of the message boards.
shareAll IMDB had to do is get board moderators. But no..
shareIt is a real pity! I don´t understand the reason why they are shutting down Message Boards, where else can you talk about films, actors and so on? I know about Facebook of course but they are different. So sorry.
