They blamed it on lateness which was a complete ploy because Welch is known for her work ethic - plus she was fired after 5 days which demonstrates they really didn't want her. Welch sued for wrongful termination and 5.5 years later was awarded $11 Million. The whole episode was absurd because Welch was miscast anyway.
