John Wayne and Rock Hudson

DUKE: A LOVE STORY by Pat Stacy has a blurb from Rock Hudson saying "I worked with John Wayne." For the life of me I can't remember a movie with the Duke and the Rock in it. Any ideas?

THE UNDEFEATED in 1969.

The studios didn't want rock to be in the picture, but Wayne insisted that he was perfect for the part

Rock stated in an interview, that although he hated the movie, it revitalized his career

It's hard to judge if he had any recent hits prior to Undefeated. I mean I like Ice Station Zebra, but he did a couple of interesting films after UD and then got McMillan and Wife which was a favorite for some people.

People remember Rock for "Giant", probably his best IMO

And

McMillan & Wife

I don't know how big a hit it was, but the 1954 movie Magnificent Obsession is one of my favorite Rock Hudson movies. 

Yes. He did several Douglas Sirk melodramas, that are wonderful movies in glorious Technicolor.
