Didn't anyone find him more cooler in the 50's?

The style of Elvis was unique compare to other 50's singers. After his 68 comeback. He lost his style..

reply

Yes, he was cooler in the 1950s, because no sane person who saw those crappy films he made in the 1960s could think of him as cool again.

And that was if you didn't know about his 14-year-old girlfriend!

reply

They were just friends when she was a minor!

I do not like 70s Elvis! So cringey

reply

I love 70’s Elvis. He was campy but legendarily so and he had as much passion as ever. His voice was still beautiful too.

reply

Of course. 70s Elvis was like a parody of himself, an aging rock star.

reply

Yes he was much better in the 50's. I remember seeing him on the Ed Sullivan Show when I was a kid.

reply

And need i remind you, slimone, you also remember seeing him at the Hollywood Knickerbocker Hotel. He was a very nice man,.so you say.

reply

I wasn't around to see him in either the 50s, 60s, or 70s.

Just as a fan looking at his material today, I prefer the 1950s version. He was more presentable, wore normal clothes, and his music sounded rawer and (I believe) better. I felt he was more rock n roll at this time.

The fat Elvis who wore jumpsuits, had mutton chops, and lived in Las Vegas is an embarrassment. He became a Liberace or Tom Jones sort of entertainer.

I am going to agree, Elvis was the man back in the 50's. The 60's was when his popularity kind of dropped due to the military and him being a father to Lisa Marie (RIP to her, 1968-2023), alongside his relationship with Priscilla breaking down. The 70's was the last time he was alive due to drugs and all sorts of health problems.

Now think for a moment. If he was still alive today, how would his music live up to modern standards? The closest that can come to replicating his style is Bruno Mars.
