The guns of navarone

It's up there as one of mine (also loved Roman Holiday). But Navarone is just incredible. He's great in it ("I speak German...PERFECT"), the dialogue is great, the tension and action stands up today without the fast-cutting or CG. It received a well-deserved Best Picture nod for a movie of its type.
