William Holden - Academy Award winner and arguably one of the best American actors of the 20th century. Holden was a hopeless alcoholic and his drinking drove away many of the people who cared for him. One night in 1981, he was drinking alone is his Los Angeles apartment when he tripped and struck his head on the edge of a table. Although he was seriously injured, he decided not call an ambulance and returned to the bed where he had been drinking.share
He bled to death from the head wound and he was found two days later.
I never knew that. Tragic. He was a great actor and played many rugged individuslists. Picnic and Love is a Many Splendored Thing are two of his performances that come to mind.
