My philosophy has always been that bad things are a guarantee, and that the good things in life you have to work for.
Even winning the lottery is the result of spending hundreds of dollars (and waiting years)for a chance in a million.
I'm glad to hear about Lorna, and hope, like Liz Taylor's, her tumor was benign.
Liza has vanished since she went to rehab (for a month!) four years ago. A few Youtube videos have weirdos filming
she and friend Michael Feinstein coming out of a restaurant for dinner. Despite being a bit shaky and - let's face it -
goofy - Liza, like Fenstein, are class acts and respond politely to these intrusive jerks.
Frankly, Liza is lucky to be alive after a lifetime of drugs and booze. She IS selling off her entire wardrobe collection
soon at an auction. Items even include personal pictures, and letters between her parents!!! She must really need the
dough.
I've been watching her old performances of "Some People" on YouTube.
She was phenomenal; all the showmanship and power of her Mother, different style, of course.
'90/'91 was when Liza looked her best as an adult (far better than even the "Cabaret"/"That's Entertainment" days).
She was slim again for the first time in years, and her short bob and super makeup were outstanding.
However, great performance though this is, she still possess a shrill voice, with a vibrato wide enough for a
truck to drive through.
I've always felt Liza's singing was much more in the vein of Ethel Merman. But, yes, it's a strong performance.
To me, Ethel is just LOUD. The quality of her voice is grating. She often sounds out of tune, and her vibrato is wider (and wilder) than either Liza's or Judy's.
Not a fan.
In her later years, on the Sullivan show, she could have been taken as a comedy act, like that Mrs. Miller, he used to feature. Hard to believe she was serious.
