"no memorial service, unmarked grave" - her wishes

Disrespectful to fans I feel.

I don't. Your last wishes are your's alone.

I feel the same way. It's her choice. Considering she lived a quiet life away from the limelight after her Hollywood career, it's not that surprising that she chose a quiet exit.

Which also seems very humble to me.

reply

I respect that.

Somewhere else I posted that my current fave Nellie McKay made a tribute CD to Doris Day. I did not expect this, but maybe because they are both interested in anti-animal cruelty, maybe that's the connection.

I respect her need for privacy in death as well the privacy she needed in her later life. There's something repulsive about having a grave as a tourist attraction.
