Last Tango in Paris

No! That's not true at all, Elvis takes 50% of everything I earn!Col. Tom Parker

why last tango?

That was his last starring role film. Such a great, raw, intense performance I can watch over and over. After that it was all supporting roles which he did just for money (my opinion again) with a lot of accents and costumes.

I would say...

A Streetcar Named Desire
On the Waterfront
The Godfather

"What's this regarding, Mr. Grizzle?"

reply

I really can't decide out of 4. Yea, I know, maybe I shouldn't answer, but here goes, LOL.

"Streetcar", "Waterfront", "Godfather", and "Last Tango".

If it's strictly about performance, however, I'll go with this trilogy: "Waterfront", "Burn!!!", and "Tango".

"Burn!!!" is an almost un-watchable film with an absolutely brilliant Brando, who obviously believed in the politics, character, and concept of working with 'locals' as opposed to proven thespians.

Anyone who can get through a slow, politically preachy film, in order to see an actors work? "Burn!!!" is a 'must see'. Brando was never better.

One last warning: the film itself is very slow, with a charismatic second lead who wasn't much of an actor.

I've tried to watch Burn several times and I always fall asleep.

Yea, it's really about the performance. It definitely is one of his better, and may be the last film he was actually physically fit for.

But, yea, it's a snails pace, and the direction, the editing? It's choppy and dry.

Brando's character arc is unbelievable, though.
