Is it just me......

or has TV caught up to cinema in terms of quality with excellent shows like Legion and Fargo (to name just two)?

I used to watch mostly movies, but I now have a DVR cable box and gather research on new shows from IMDB and TV Guide. I now find myself watching more TV than movies.

What say you, fellow Legion fans? 😎

I agree. When I watch a movie these days, I find myself wondering "is that all?" at the end because it's usually very simplistic compared to tv series, there are not as many subplots and character development and textural scenes. Movies fall short now. Like when I saw Passengers, I kept expecting more twists and more "meat", but it fell short.
2 hours just isn't enough to do a really intricate story, the way that tv series can. The Tv shows production values are as good as film but the character and plot just has more room for exploration.
The acting on tv shows now, is also just as good or better than most movies.

I agree. I think it's been like that fro several years now though.

Excellent points. I think mini series like Legion and Fargo are the best. They give time for character and plot development, but don't have to rely on a lot of useless filler.

I still like movies, so I guess it depends on the story. But I find myself watching more TV shows in recent years as well. I like to get emersed into the world of the story, so a show is better suited for that. Especially with binge watching.

But I still like a good, concentrated story that I can spend two hours on and then move on. Especially if it's something tense and with a lot of momentum, that's hard to keep up in the span of many episodes. And some stories don't have enough in them, to need hours of development.

Well okay then.
