Slow and boring

Definitely not worth such a high rating and I thought the main actor (Chris)couldn't act, he barely changes expression or tone, very disappointed as I wanted to like it.

Daniel Kaluuya's performance came off for me as too British-pretending-to-be-American. He affected a serviceable accent wile slipping into certain words here and there. Aside from that, the movie could have been edited down an extra five to ten minutes.

reply

I agree, don't know why its rated so highly

reply

You keep making threads about how you didn't like the movie and what not. If you don't like the movie why are you here?

reply

He (she) really doesn't go into the reasons why either which usually bothers me more. This was very good satire and effectively creepy.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here- https://youtu.be/Tb0kPow-1D4

reply

I agree, sounds like she's just hating.

reply

I think not understanding the satire element is a lot of the reason for anyone not liking this movie. I don't think it's a masterpiece or anything, but it's a solid 7/10.

reply

Because I am allowed an opinion, that is what moviechat is all about our likes and dislikes

reply

If you say so, I thought Batman v Superman was a horrible movie and you won't catch me anywhere near those boards.

reply

But it doesn't mean someone is trolling if they do post about not liking the movie/show on its board. Critics write about movies that they didn't care for. Why should the average person be any different?

reply

I never said they were trolling. Critics do that because they get paid to do it's really not the same. Not sure what your point is here.

reply

I couldn't agree more. Also, it was way too predictable. I knew what was coming as soon as they mentioned hypnotism after the all the racist talk with the obviously strange groundskeeper and maid.

reply

You were clearly supposed to suspect that. It was supposed to be predictable on that point. The movie wanted you to think they were brainwashing them through hypnosis into being obedient slaves. What was not predictable was the twist at the end when you found out what was really going on with them.

reply

I agree with you. I wasn't scared at all. The very notion that a sound (a spoon tapping against a tea cup) and taking a selfie pic, or any picture for that matter, can force a person under hypnosis or a state of consciousness that renders them defensless is stupid writing.

reply

I agree overrated

reply

Yep absolutely overrated ! ... One time watch and will never watch again !
