Just saw it last night...Great movie

Honestly, I don't see where all the hate is coming from. It was an amazing movie, faithful to the original with a few small tweaks. Emma Watson was perfect as Belle. The CGI was beautiful, although admittedly the faces of the castle occupants did turn out a tiny bit creepy and flat, but it wasn't too distracting. Yes, LeFou was gay. No, it was not overtly pushing any "gay agenda". He was obsessed with Gaston in the original, and this version just took that a bit further. His character actually had a nice little twist at the end.

I agree I loved it too. I seen it today and I loved it.

I saw it today and loved it too. Best film of 2017 so far. Emma Watson is perfect as Belle and the whole cast are great. It was a beautiful, lavish, spectacular, visual delight. I rate it 9/10.

Same here! Saw it today and thought it was FANTASTIC! I love how much it stuck to the original and it was so visually stunning! I can't imagine a single actress who was more perfect for the roll of Belle than Emma. Flawless.

reply

Agreed! This is one remake Disney nailed!! Awesome movie!!!

reply

Haven't seen it but it already made $350 million worldwide in it's first week so it looks like it will be a big hit.

I loved it. Just wish the beast was hotter in the big reveal

I thought he was pretty handsome. More so than Gaston. 😉

reply

I think Dan Stevens is plenty handsome. And he can act. Pity he is hidden under all that CGI for most of the film.

reply

Didn't like it.

I recently saw it and I loved it too. It was a great movie.

I disagree. I saw it on opening night and found it underwhelming. The visuals were great, and I was surprised that I liked the Beast as much as I did. However, I thought Emma Watson was miscast and her singing wasn't very good. And more importantly, while there were many funny parts, most of the other characters were not memorable the way they were in the original especially Gaston and LeFou. I found myself more interested in the clock than anyone else.

Also, there was something off about the pacing. I don't know if this was due to an issue with translating animated stories to live action, but the whole movie came across like 'scene, scene, now this scene, now the next scene, now this, now that.' It didn't flow very well.

reply

So true, pacing was atrocious. Not sure why people are so delusional about this film.

reply

We are "delusional" because we like it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no need to call names simply because your opinion differs from others on this thread. I'm sure there are other postings where you can rant with others about how bad you think the movie is.

reply

I want to rant right here.

reply

Wow I'm not the only one who found the clock the most interesting lol!

But I think underwhelming is a good word to use here. It wasn't terrible, and it did a lot of good things - I actually thought Emma Watson's singing was okay, much better than I expected. But I found both her portrayal of Belle, as well as the Beast's performance, very unremarkable. Like, nothing stood out to make me say 'perfect Belle, perfect Beast.'

reply

Very true about Belle and Beast but I would say "perfect Gaston, perfect LeFou"!

reply

This movie should have been titled "Gaston and LeFou"

reply

Yes! I loved both of those guys.
