Loose ends and Chekhov's guns

So what are some that you want explored or think/hope might be revisited in the future? What are some that you are glad have been dropped and hope to never see again?

For example, there are the perennial loose ends people mention, like Adam, and I've seen people mention Dean's taking Michael's Spear as a potential Chekhov's gun. They did deal with the Gavin loose end this year even if there were some problems with the changing time aspects.

Personally, I'm still waiting to find out if the Spear of Destiny is ever going to come into play. I'm also wondering if the MoL wiping out the Grand Coven will ever come into play with Rowena and the BMoL.

Definitely the grenade launcher. They have been making jokes about it all season. I just worry that the "payoff" was Ketch blowing up the car with his bigger and better launcher.

reply

They did make jokes about it all season. Have they done it since that happened? Ketch using one that was bigger and better might have been the punchline, but here's hoping that Dean will get to use his to blow up the BMoL base . . . or maybe even the bunker? I don't know. We know he still has it. If he uses it, then it'll have to be for something big.

In answer to my own question, they did have the grenade launcher gag in Regarding Dean. I watched it again last night and had forgotten about the Post-it Rowena put on it saying, 'No!' Maybe it wasn't just a set up for Ketch's first face-to-face with Sam and Dean. I guess we'll have to wait to find out if anything will come of it in the last couple of episodes.

With the BMOL train of thought there are some loose ends that involve Kate and Garth. And there's the dog/human that protected his family against the dog pack (I can't remember his name).

Loose ends from the boys POV, Michael's spear (which I'm hoping Dean will be using against Lucifer), poor Adam, and Billie's announcement if she was killed what would be the dire consequences are just a few I can think of.

I originally thought that these people/monsters calling for help, disappearing, or dying is what would clue the Winchesters in on the BMoL, but I don't think that's going to happen now. I'd love to find out what's happened to them once everything is out in the open though.

I want Dean to kill Lucifer, AND the nephilim with the Lance of Michael in the finale.
I want Michael to come back next season, and for it to be a big arc for Dean.
I want Gabriel to come back and stay an entire season. The same season Michael comes back.
I want Castiel to suffer the cosmic consequences of killing Billie.
I want Castiel to be welcome back in Heaven and have a sidekick. Kelvin would be my preference.
I want Mary to go back to Heaven and after that never be spoken about ever again. Don't even want to see her picture.

I don't care about Adam and I never want to hear about Jesse ever again.
I don't want to see Purgatory again.
I don't want the boys in romances again. Been there, done that, doesn't work, slows the show down and create contrived drama.
I want the show to make up its mind about Sam being okay with The Life. I'm so tired of him still nursing that pipe dream of not having to hunt one day. Every couple of season, they tell us Sam is fine with The Job and then they pull a switcheroo like, sike, not really.

I agree. When Dean yelled at him to pick a side I took it to mean either quit complaining about not having a normal life or accept to do hunting full time. When ever he's made a comment like that he usually does a side glance to whoever he's talking with to see what their reaction is.

I noticed!!! Especially in "Criss Angel Is a Douchebag". Sam asked Dean something like: do you think we'll be doing this when we're 50? But what if there was a way... * side glance *, and that night, he decided to follow Ruby.
I'm just tired of Sam continuing to follow the wrong people the second someone sells him the dream of a life without hunting. Sigh.

reply

I actually like Sam hanging on that dream. We all need dreams to get us through the day.

reply

I don't know, he makes the worst decisions in the name of this "dream".

Starting to think nothing should be brought back under Dabb. Everything that ties the show to its roots is being systematically wiped out.

reply

Agreed!

reply

Maybe I should change it to ask what items, people, or loose ends you don't want brought back (for their own safety)?

reply

Michael?

I've been begging the show to bring him back but he's better off where he is now I suppose.
At least he's safe from Dabb's idea of storytelling.
Ditto for Gabriel. Those are 2 of my favorite angels ever and after what happened to Joshua, I don't want either of them anywhere near Dabb.

Except even where he is, he's not safe from being demoted to being the younger brother and apparently too weak to keep his sanity in the cage after a mere 5 1/2 years. Although with us being blessed with Lucifer's presence for the last year and half, I may understand that one a little more.

Totally agree.
