What would happen if you refused both pills?
Say you just walk out of the room with everything you know up to that point, what would happen?

shareYou'd make Morpheus sad. And when Morpheus gets sad, the Oracle gets angry. And when the Oracle gets angry, the Architect will erase you from the grid. So you better take a pill, mister!

Will you keep your eyes shut as you live your life in this corrupt and illusory world? Or will you decide to open them?
Ha ha.
shareThen you would have a totally different movie, one they chose not to make. The explanation is so simple I find myself wondering why anyone would ask it.

You just chill in the matrix with the knowledge of it being fake, if you accept it you just live out your life but if you can't and are changed, I guess the Agents come for you and kill you or something.

If you refuse both, the third option is an enema.
shareIt's suggested in the online game that the choice of pills is just symbolic. If you don't choose the red pill the blue pill would be chosen for you by default. They wouldn't even have to force it down your throat. You would just wake up the next day and not remember what they showed you.

Better yet, what if you swallowed one, while at the same time, shoved the other up your ass? What if you only took half of one of the pills, or took half of the blue and two thirds of the red? We'll never know...or will we? Nope.
