General Perez should have been cut out.

I think the movie would have been better. Perez was just cheezy. Watching his scenes was like watching Batman & Robin. And the army should have been more tougher and not so cowardly.

Yup, it's pretty cornball alright. So was rolling a grenade along the ground to go into the capsule, and saluting them... and the acting by the hispanic guy, and Winona Ryder, and Sigourney Weaver, and the scientist villain.

It's a mess.

Agreed. I couldn't take him seriously when he showed up. Whedon hates the movie because of the casting.

Absolutely. If anyone here remembers the now defunct "Burger King Kids Club"...this was them all grown up (wheelchair and all).

Perez especially. What a cartoon.
