Ripley's nightmares

The only way to watch these movies (3 & 4) is to believe they are nightmares of Rippley's while she is in hypersleep. It's the only way these make sense. For me.

Follow moi (french for me) if you will.

The third one has an egg that come from an undiscovered dimension. And this egg can produce two facehuggers: a normal one and a queenhugger. Nice. And of course the queenhuger goes for Ellen because, why not? It's her nightmare. And then Newt dies, and Hicks dies, and she dies... Everyone dies. That's what happens when you are chased by xenomorphs for two movies. You get nightmares. Like the one that she had during Aliens. But longer. Far longer.

And then she has another nightmare. And, because it's a nightmare, and she was chased by xenomorphs for two movies without a moment's rest, this time her DNA has alien DNA because she was infected with a queen by the queenhugger in her previous nightmare. Makes sense. Because that's how it works. It's the only thing that makes sense right now. For me anyway.

And by the time Alien 5 shows it's ugly xenomorph head on a silver screen near me, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection will only be seen as nightmares of Ripley's while she was in hypersleep. For me.

Logan: I don't know!
Rogue: You don't know, or you don't care?
Logan: Pick one.

That's just for the plot of the story. Just like in Total Recall, it was all supposed to be a dream but there are scenes where Arnold isn't present either.
