Gershon practically unseen after half hour
I just watched this great film for the first time and was surprised that Gershon's character was practically unseen after the first half hour or so. She was clearly set up as a lead character at the beginning. But after half hour, Pantoliano and Tilly just dominated the rest of the film with their nail-biting cat-and-mouse games. Even though Corky masterminded the whole thing, it was Violet who basically saved the day when the plan went wrong, with Corky helpless on the sideline. I was thinking that maybe Violet would actually betray Corky at the end, sort of like the lesbian version of Body Heat or Double Indemnity. But the film didn't even entertain any such possibility. Not that I was against their loyality for one another; I was hoping a surprise betrayal would give the Gershon character more to do in the film's final act.
