A lot of this went over my head...

I really like the movie but I felt like I didn't understand a lot of things they said partially because I am not that familiar with drag slang, or Australian culture. Did anyone else American feel this way or am I just dumb lol?

I understand what you mean, but I usually always put on the subtitles when I watch a film with strong accents, etc. But the DVD I watched had French and Spanish subtitles, but no English subtitles, so I missed a lot too.

Any jokes in particular you didn't understand? :)

You're just dumb. This American and the others I saw it with had no problem understanding what they said.

BTW, "This went over my head" means "This was too sophisticated for me to grasp," not "I couldn't make sense of their accents." Like I said, dumb.

Gee you are really harsh!

I got the movie, but I spend a lot of time chatting in Second Life, and being a disabled insomniac means I'm usually online during "UK Hours". Oddly enough, I dated both a guy and a girl from Australia...she and u got on famously, laughing over what we didn't "get" about each other's cultures and explaining. He, on the other hand... Part of the reason we broke up is because Americans are stupid and have an unsophisticated sense of humor.

I'd crack a joke. No response, but he'd get mad at me for laughing. "It's not funny if no one laughs." Must be hilarious, then, cos I just laughed my @$$ off! Or he'd tell a joke and I'd ask him to explain because I didn't get the joke. He'd get mad at me because I was "killing the mood and can't just be happy." Huh?!?

It just depends on the person. No, you're not dumb for not understanding the gist of the terms used.
