Cannot take this film seriously

He's dressed as a woman.

reply

He's dressed as his dead mother, and he's holding a very sharp knife. What's not to take serious?

reply

I remember this OP from imdb.

reply

So is that good or bad?

reply

I'm not sure. Seems to be a post designed to get a rise out of us...was last time, too.

I'm not inclined to get in any trouble with any other posters this early in the "save" that is this board.

I think the post is FINE...just fine.

reply

No, its a simple fact. I can't take him seriously. Other guy you mention probably had the same reason. Norman Bates was just ridiculous.

reply

Sorry, I can't take you serious either. That's like saying you don't take serious the serial killer in Silence of the Lambs because he wore a dress. Who cares what they wear?!!! The fact that they are killers is what should be taken seriously.

But okay, I concede that Anthony Perkins did look a bit funny with the wig and dress. 😁

reply

I don't take Buffalo Bill seriously. He was completely ridiculous.

reply

Well you can be ridiculous AND a killer.

reply

But you can't be taken seriously as one.

reply

Remember, this was 1960. It seems like a trope now, but it was fresh at that time. You have to (or should) watch these older movies through the eyes of someone in that age.

reply

You mean I should smoke pot and watch it while I'm high?

reply

Only if v you are a jazz musician.

reply

That's how people in the 60s did everything.

reply

The fact he's dressed a woman

reply

Love this thread, thanks for the laugh :)

reply

Yes, in real life, the sister would have burst laughing seeing Norman dressed as a woman.

reply

Its funny when the guy grabs him at the end and his mouth is gaping open in over the top fashion and his wig comes off,lol

reply

This is what passed for acting back then.

reply

Lol I'm sure I could had done better than that, do you actually like the movie?

reply

Nope. It was ridiculous.

reply

How about the sequel's?

reply

Never watched them.

reply

You should they are very entertaining.

reply

I agree, they are pretty good imo.

RIP Anthony Perkins

reply

Yes! Especially the original, but the others too!
