Just a small point. A tidal wave would be the normal daily high and low tides; this would be a tsunami wave. I do have to question the accuracy of that measurement.

I wondered about that myself, but it is listed in record books as the largest wave ever. Tsunami wave, true.

A rogue wave is a sea wave which is significantly higher than the normal size of waves in it's location and time. In popular imagination all rogue waves are gigantic, though by definition they can be small if the other waves in the area are much smaller. A tsunami wave is a totally different type of wave.

The height of the wave at its highest point was determined afterward by the highest point where trees were snapped off. Today there is a visible difference in color around the bay between the younger trees lower down and the older trees farther up.
