Unlike other genres, Country music is very much a song driven genre. Meaning its rooted in the song, and not so much "the sound" or composition. That is sort of the icing. The argument is that Country music tends to sound the same. It really doesn't , only to the untrained ear because most people who have only a casual listening to Country only hear the same old songs.
But the truth is, Country is a very diverse genre of music. It isn't like its going to be progressive Rock. But the song craft is very important. The lyrics. And the lyrics have some kind of under tone to them. Country is a singles market, which is really more like Country Music is actually more like true Pop music than anything else.
