Don McLean's AMERICAN PIE.

I just heard it for the 1st time and added it to my list of the best rock albums. My favorite track is the one the album is named after.

What do you think about it?

reply

The album is a good one. The title track is one of the best songs of all time.

Is there a reason it's also the name of that teen comedy?

I don't think they were ever linked. I'm pretty sure the song doesn't even appear in the movie. Maybe coincidence, or they were inspired by the title. There is a...scene...with a pie in the movie, and since it's an American movie taking place in America, I guess it sort of caught on.
Btw, one of the worst teen comedies, IMO. That was the era when they started getting too raunchy and unfunny, and John Hughes had long left the genre behind.

What Movie_Riggs said. Also, the scene features an apple pie, which is one of America's traditions.

I saw him lip syncing it in a Christmas parade on TV. Probably the greatest song of all time.
