I've noticed that, in a photographer's 2nd work...

... people (not just critics) already like to point out possible trademarks and recurring themes. If there are no connections between it and the 1st work... they still point that out. Why? Why not just talk about the specific work? And why not wait until the 3rd work, when it'll officially become a pattern?
