Viceland's takeover has ticked off loyal viewers of History's H2 channel

As one devoted viewer of the History channel spinoff explained, “The new change is horrible. I now can leave cable and go back to streaming what I want.”

I didn't watch H2 at all, but I'm rather offended by the garbage shown on the Viceland network. Which is fairly amusing, because I do watch Vice on HBO. I just find much about the programming (starting right off the bat with their raunchy titles) to be in very bad taste. If they're trying to sway new converts to their way(s) of thinking, they have to tone down the shock element just a bit. Although, I have heard that their ratings are nothing close to what they expected. Perhaps this irritation shall fix itself!

I did not disagree with replacing H2. The idea of expanding Histroy's On-Demand offerings, while eliminating a seemingly dying channel was a great move. I do not know if they followed through with moving H2's material though.

This Viceland channel is just too long winded. All of the shows look drab and dull. It appears that they are going for the lowest of the low reality programing that they can do. Always exploiting inexperienced crew to get anything made quickly and cheaply. Yes, it shows! There is zero effort into even basic production value. This kind of leads me to believe that the channel has very little standing in the way of tidy profits, even below H2 viewer levels.

Depending on advertisers willingness to put up with disastrous show titles and never ending reality shows, Vineland just might last until the carrier contracts come to an end. No one is seriously going to protest a Vineland blackout.

The main issue seems to be that Vineland does not have a defined target audience. The titles seem to be going for those 11-14 years that think this stuff is daring, but the actual content would not hold their attention at all. They'll either continue throwing random material at the wall or figure out how to become relevant. My prediction is reality has been losing its popularity, and Viceland sees the writing on that Teflon coated wall.

The target is millenials and the channel does deal with some serious stuff. Weediquitte is very informational and touches on a lot of relevant issues. That's the only show I've seen though from the channel.
