what was the most expensive soap opera set ever constructed

i remember reading that it was from a mid to late 80s storyline from either general hospital, or guiding light, or as the world turns, something about a mysterious underground (or something) city that some villain was using or something, but alas, google has turned up nothing, so can u please help?? i remember the name of the city was really strange/weird/long. i wanna say it was circa 1985 to 1987. also, it was also the LARGEST soap set ever built.

and, no, it's not GH's "Ice Princess" storyline. The one in question is 85 to 88 maybe

Most likely the set for the "underground city" on One Life to Live. It was a complicated story line that seemingly went on for months. Since I wasn't watching OLTL regularly then, I can't remember many of the details. But, yes, if the set were constructed specifically for that soap, it could easily have been the most expensive set ever built for a daytime drama! If you contact Erika Slezak, she doubtlessly could fill you in on any information you'd like to obtain.

yes! that jogs my memory!! it WAS OLTL that the article mentioned, and it did say that it was built specifically for that complex storyline! I was remembering all the wrong potential soaps that the article mentioned. Thank you so much! Wow, I really really want to find that storyline and view it on YouTube! Much appreciated.

It was early 1989 on One Life to Live, the storyline set was "The Lost Underground City of Eterna."
