they seem boring though. over the top is what makes soaps fun!

I used to take my British soaps for granted, until I watched American, Indian and Brazilian soaps... gosh our soaps are far better by a mile.

'Coranation St' has drab, dull characters occupying silly, over the top situations, 'Eastenders' has better characters, but it's depressing and grim and 'Emmerdale' is S-L-O-W...... American soap operas like 'Another World', 'Days of Our Lives' and 'General Hospital' were all amazing in the 70's and 80's!!!

As an American I really enjoy East Enders, altho we are about10 years behind GB. I actively mourned the ending of Footballer's Wives, especially the Tanya/Conrad years.
