Is Superheroe a film genre?

What do you think? I think each superhero movie can fit in a genre but some people call it a genre on its own.

Sci-Fi/Action

X-Men

It's arbitrary and things overlap any way you look at it. I generally consider "superhero" to be a sub-genre of sci-fi, as any superhuman powers are really just that.

My life has major plot holes.

I would call it Action-Adventure.

But I understand why UltraDog says it would fit into the science-fiction genre.

Yeah stick with old terms. Superhero movies are adventure and action

I’d say it’s a sub genre.
A mixture of Action and Sci fi
