Recent studies have shown 'man' cannot sit/stand idly for ten seconds listening to one's own thoughts without pushing a button to deliver pain to oneself.

Now try and imagine three billion years of those ten seconds. It's damn unfathomable. It's just as unfathomable that a single-cell organism over three billion plus years adapt, evolve and grow into billions upon billions of different species.

But that's okay. Man is slow, evolution is patient. Dinosaurs were slower; evolution outlived them.

A random process cannot create ontological change. That's an old one.

The theory of evolution -- and whatever random naturalistic explanation is given for the initial life -- can only thrive if you completely ignore traditional metaphysics. Grandpa Darwin was an occultist who wanted to replace Christianity with Epicureanism.

Still, evolution is well-recorded in the fossil evidence.
It's real, scientific.
As far as "initial life" we just don't yet now enough - yet.
That's nothing new, we are still learning.

Those are completely different things. Scientific, by definition, isn't real.

Considering that the theory of evolution is in fact thriving and traditional metaphysics is nonsense only taken seriously by a meaningless group of theologians and bad philosophers, let us indeed ignore traditional metaphysics.

I own both the printed copy and the audiobook, and both are excellent. And while it's becoming more and more dated as new discoveries are made, it's still a great introduction.
