Need help with a VCR

Anyone own or know of the Panasonic NV-SJ50 Multisystem VCR? I found one at Goodwill the other week and it does work, but unfortunately, I popped a test PAL tape in and the tape still plays as if it were playing in an ordinary VCR, despite it being region-free. On Facebook, I was told that I need a PAL-to-NTSC tuner to make it work, but which tuner would be the best one? Any help is appreciated.

Try a TV capture card or USB dongle... those are often multiformat capable. Then you can capture the video to the computer and save it as something more convenient. I used a Hauppauge WinTV PVR card to record from a PAL camcorder, then burned it as a PAL DVD.

Sorry for the late reply, but I have less than satisfactory experience with computer capture cards. I have acquired though, a Mini PAL-to-NTSC converter box but the picture is all jerky when attached. Still, it might be a step in the right direction.

Hey UpsideDownChickenMan, how about this?

It's pretty inexpensive, may be worth considering. Also, there are a lot of region free VHS>DVD Player machines out there. Mine only cost me $109 CAD new and that was years ago, I'm sure there are cheaper ones out there now.
