Need Advise about Photo Shop

I'm looking for a program and there are so many out there. What I am wanting to do is make GIF'S that you can put your own animation in your pictures....also I want to put music to GIF and slide show pictures. What program can do this? Thanks for the help.

I don't know if you'll be able to do everything you want to do with just one program.

I have created picture slideshows with synchronized music using Windows Movie Maker. Unfortunately, the Windows Essentials 2012 suite reached end of support on January 10, 2017 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18614/windows-essentials) and is no longer available for download (at least from Microsoft's own site). Hopefully someone else can suggest another free program that can do the same job.

It's not possible to add audio to gifs. You'll have to use a program like photofiltre (free) that can separate each individual frame in the gif individually then use another video creation program to add all those frames back into a video and then add audio. Same normal process for slide shows.

Never the less, you have to make a video to whatever is your preferred format.

Thank you both for the advise. What I am looking for does not have to be a free program, I am willing to buy just want to get the right thing. I was able to put slide show pictures to music with Nero that I had once but from there I need to put on Facebook and I don't know how to do that from a saved folder on my computer. Any help with that?

Nero or even Microsoft Movie Maker is perfectly fine. Just make sure it's a MIME format that Facebook allows, ie. mp4, wmv, mpeg.

Once you're logged in facebook, from your homepage feed, go to the top of the page where you would post a status. Click on the upper left corner of the box with a camera icon that says Photo/Video. A dialogue window will pop-up and from there you can search for the folder your video file is in. Click to select that file, then click open, wait for the video to load, type your comment if you wish, and then click post. It's that simple.

Microsoft Movie Maker

Unfortunately the "new" movie maker with W7,10 is utter garbage as they seem to be going backward.

The old one with XP would do it.

Corel 8 does not run past W7.
Flash does not run past W7.

Am I supposed to buy new programs everytime they come out with a "new and improved" Windows?

I think not.

I would suggest your best option for working with simple animations would be purchasing a new version of Flash. (steep learning curve)

I don't know if Monkey Jam would do it - Free!
Worth a try:

Well I wouldn't know about the latest versions of Movie Maker since I'm on an ancient computer still running on XP SP3! 😀

So am I.
I cannot afford to replace all my old programs that ran fine on XP and suddenly won't work anymore.

I had to install an XP dual boot with a SSD drive running XP, Corel, Flash, and Movie Maker from the good old days, because the new crap wouldn't work.

W7 is fine, W10 is fine. Very fast.
But not backward compatible.

There are many free "apps" to experiment with.
