Today the IMDB, tomorrow Boxofficemojo

It looks like boxofficemojo.com is the next for the rationalised customer metrics approach. They closed their message boards a few years ago but now the owners (Amazon/IMDB) are having a survey to 'help us improve this site' (which shows a heavy bias to 'proving' the historical information on older films isn't worth keeping). Which sounds like a 'in the hope that you'll agree with the decision we've already made to slash the site' fig leaf after they got criticised for not polling IMDB members before wielding the axe.

They did close the site completely for a couples of days I think to, before removing the board trying to direct traffic to IMDB for the box office information/news, If I remember correctly.

That website is very often not working (say if you ask for adjusted number in some section, if often return some error), a bit like IMDB message board it does not seem to have a lot of server power behind it, probably little value in it.

Situation must not have changed since the time they closed it (probably got worst in term of percentage of traffic that is low value mobile traffic or 0 value ads blocker traffic), would not surprise me at all if it close and be integrated into IMDB new platform.

The survey being made to maximize how to publicize to people where to go on IMDB to get all what box office mojo offered (probably not all that mojo offered, what is easy enough/worthy enough to do so according to their metric).

Yeah, I saw that too. It's totally getting incorporated into IMDB. What a damn shame.

they'll will probably have historical data behind a paywall, maybe a benefit of imdbpro

I took that survey already.

How far back do you think they'll keep?

And is there any good alternatives? Mostly I just like to look at who won which weeks.

I'll certainly be using The Numbers if Mojo strips back its features or goes down completely.

Skipping page long posts for over a year now.

Right off the bat I notice a big problem:

Lego Batman and John Wick aren't even shown on the weekly chart right now... just Fifty Shades Darker, and Split beneath that...

They update figure as they come in by the studio/remtrack, it has the advantage of having some result faster than Mojo, but you have to check if they are all there.
