Need help, if possible - Looking for Moon Lee films on DVD

Hi

I happened across Moon Lee on a Youtube video about classic female kung fu/action stars and i love her and her fighting style, in the short clips that i have seen.

Problem is ( i'm in the UK by the way ) that Amazon has virtually nothing for sale on DVD ( there are some on VHS, but i don't own a player ). I see she is in one of my all time favourites Mr. Vampire! (1985 version) and it's not too expensive at the moment ( it's usually way too overpriced ).

Is there a Martial Arts specific film DVD site that ships to the UK, that may have her films in stock on DVD ? Or is it the case that many fung fu films from China in the 80s are just not on DVD at all ?

Kind regards

Thanks if you can help !

I would recommend you look at Ebay and also the website yesasia. the forums over at shaolinchamber36 has a great large community of people. so you can ask around there and even talk a bit about Moon Lee with other fans : ) its the biggest kung fu fandom forum out there with fans both old and new that are passionate about martia larts cinema.

Some Moon Lee films are easier to find than others (Zu warriors,mr Vampire,Winners and sinner, The protector) and some are a little trickier either due to out of print DVD's or hard to track down vcds and/or VHS tapes (Dreaming The Reality for example and Avenging quartet). There are some really hard to find films out there form Hong Kong for sure , mostly the hidden gems and independent productions from that era, whereas the famous Shaw Brothers and Golden Harvest productions are usually more easily available in one form or another.

Good Luck!

here are some links : http://www.shaolinchamber36.com/kungfufandom/

when searching on Ebay search for the films with their titles, as just searching for Moon lee will limit your options.

Got lucky this evening and happened across a youtube channel that appears to feature almost all of her films ! Either dubbed in English or subtitled !

Watching her kick two antagonist's asses in Killer Angels right now :)

Hilariously, (this is dubbed into English, so I guess that it's the Western distributors' idea) one of the male characters is called Jackie Chan and they keep mentioning his name a LOT. I guess trying to cash in on his films of the time !

OMG she's so awesome !

By the way. Most seem to be listed on iOffer at only about £7.99 each ( minus shipping ) which is about only $10.US so when i'm a bit more flush I'm going to snap some up. Only thing is, they're bootlegs and they don't come with any covers so I might need to seek out and print those for myself. They being bootlegs is inevitable i guess, as it's highly unlikely that they ever got any meaningful distribution in the West, especially not the UK, when at the time, all kinds of kung fu films were either heavily censored or simply not released at all. The 1980s weren't a great time for avid foreign film collectors in the UK ! 😓

Yeah there are quite a few youtube channels out there with HK films avilable. I had almost forgetten Ioffer exists lol. But if the Ioffer seller you are reffering to is the one I think it is, then you shouldn't worry it is a person that used to be on Ebay and is themselves a genuine fan of the films. Ebay frowns upon not 100% legit releases so sometimes bootleg is the only way to go.

icc you'd like you can send me a message with that ioffer sellers name or a link and I can confirm :)

Oh and the Moon lee dcumentary you watched on youtube wouldn't happen to be Top Fighter 2: Deadly China Dolls?

Peace

Winners and Sinners, My Lucky Stars and Mr. Vampire have all had a UK DVD release.

From memory, the Iron Angels films had a UK VHS release.

Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain was shown on Channel 4, and I imagine it had a DVD release (probably on the Hong Kong Legends label).

The Protector was released on VHS and, it being a Jackie Chan film, has most likely been released on DVD.

Thanks !

Bar the VHS tapes, I've added them all to my Amazon Wish-List, in hope the prices of some might drop over the next few weeks/months perhaps.

Probably between the DVDs and YouTube, i'll see her entire filmography !
