Does anyone miss the practice of English Dub Soundtracks?

I actually do. Sailor Moon. Dragon Ball Z. Pokemon. Digimon. Yugioh. The English soundtracks are actually pretty good. Sometimes on par or even more appropriate than the JPN soundtrack. Just because the soundtrack is North American and uses rock music or sometimes synthesizers instead of the Superior Nippon orchestra doesn't make it inferior. Yeah it sounds like heresy to a weaboo purist but I don't believe that just because this or that version was the Japanese original makes it automatically superior / infallible / sacrosanct. I try to judge it on its own merits. I actually wish they still did this so I could hear their own unique creative interpretation. But this doesn't mean that I support displacing the JPN OST. I'm all for more variety. I wish we lived in a parallel universe where this practice isn't frowned upon/stigmatized.

This is just me personally,but I prefer the Japanese music be kept in tact in English Dubs since there are some many great ones. Maybe as a Kid I did not mind those songs in dubs,but nowadays I don't wanna hear a theme song that just repeats the name of the show for a whole min, I love Dragon Soul in Dragon Ball Z Kai even the English Version. I would not mind some of these songs being dubbed since lots of the actors can sing,

...trust me, you're hardly the only fan who would prefer the Japanese music being kept intact. You are like the 99 percent of anime fans. Communities like Kanzenshuu love to talk $hite about the Faulconer Team soundtrack of Dragon Ball Z and absolutely worship the Japanese music as superior, infallible, and sacrosanct. They are such elitists about it.

Pretty much.

I doubt the Pokemon series would have gotten as popular in the US if they stuck with the Japanese opening.

If you watch both of them, the original's not even close. The US version captured the wonderment of the series perfectly.

When an English version is done, creativity is key.

Yes, I do.

English dub themes, when done well, are wonderful to hear. Examples include:
- The Mysterious Cities of Gold
- Voltron
- Dragon Ball
- Sailor Moon
- Speed Racer
- Star Blazers

The themes above really kept to the spirit of the show and IMO are in no way insulting or degrading towards their original Japanese versions.

I think it a shame that the practice has gone out.

The English intro to The Mysterious Cities of Gold was based off of the original French version. The Japanese intro is, personal opinion, inferior to both.

Voltron was another mashup show, like Robotech. It's a little different to a straight translation/dub.
