So, for some reason, IMDb is shutting down their message boards in a few weeks. They seem to their their Twitter account and Facebook page is actually a good alternative, which I don't. So, goodbye to all my fellow Harry Potter fans!

It's been interesting for sure lol. There's been some great conversations here, some not so great, and some downright stupid conversations. But as bad as any have been, I'd personally gladly welcome them if it meant also having the great ones too, but IMDb feels differently, and they pay the bills, so what can you do?

Take care all! This was one of the last discussion boards I actually visit anymore (IMDb as a whole, not just the HP sections), as there really IS nothing 'social' about Social Media.

Damn. This kind of sucks. I HATE Social Media.

I'm not a fan of Social Media either, I don't even have accounts on there. It gets an over the top focus and I'm just deadly tired of even hearing the term "Social Media". They should allow for alternatives to it.

This is pretty cool! I just found this place yesterday, never knew it existed until now. And low and behold, one of my last posts on the old IMDb boards right here!

I had absolutely amazing conversations with people on those boards (all of the HP boards) and I wish they were all here. Had I known these boards existed (seems like this was created just before the official boards blew up, correct me if I'm wrong) I'd have signed up back the and told the others about it. Not sure if any of them would have come along, but I'd have tried.

So are there any of the old HP regulars here? Probably not, as these boards are pretty inactive... Oh well.

Thanks! And no worries! Honestly it's just nice to see something similarly structured with the possibility of getting bigger. I won't be expecting a full return to the experiences of IMDb, those days are gone. But just good movie/TV discussions with other fans/non-fans sounds great to me!

Yes I am a fan of the books, and honestly I'd have to disagree. I thought that for the most part the books just got better and better as they went on. I didn't love every aspect of the books, and I'll admit the last is my least favorite for a variety of reasons, but the one thing I loved about the series as a whole is that when re-reading, you can see just how much foreshadowing she did. And for me it really paid off; the last book is by far my least favorite, but it has some of the best moments IMO.

Kind of a funny side note, I never thought I'd even like this series; back before and around the time of the first movie, I thought Harry Potter was just some stupid 'kids' thing. The only reason I even watched the first was because I was forced to (long story). But I actually loved it!

My wife started reading the books after watching the 3rd movie, but I really had no desire to myself. And then for some reason, after watching the last movie for the second time, I decided to give the books a try and against all preconceptions, I loved them! I've re-read them so many times I cannot even count.

One thing I will say though is that it's too bad that Hollywood decided to start the movies before the books were even done, on so many levels. And as much as I love the books, I will admit that they could have been a little more polished, but the moment Hollywood started the movies, the pressure was on; JKR was no longer just under pressure from the publishers, she was racing the clock in the form of aging kids...

It would have been interesting to see how the books may have turned out if JKR had had the ability to take her time, and release them on her own schedule.
