British Crime vs US crime

Any views on British Vs US crime movies?

I am a Brit but enjoy most crime films including Scandinavian. For me - British crime films tend to be more realistic than their American counterparts and don't contain so much over the top mayhem with endless car chases and things being blown up so as the hero can walk away very slowly in the foreground! They tend to be slower in pace and more dialogue driven - they also tend to have more of a story line. American crime movies are enjoyable though - and you probably wont fall asleep watching one!

I prefer US crime films though Britain has made and does make very good ones, however, I prefer French crime films over British ones.

US over British any day, but that could be because I have yet to find a British one I actually like. I will say that Polisse, a French movie, is one of my favorites and I definitely recommend it.
